Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge 2019

By 11th March 2019 No Comments

Wakefield LGBT Pride 2019 and our Partner Venue at The Rainbow Wakefield are proud to be taking part in the Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge once again.

The Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge is one of the most popular water sports events in the North of England and will this year take place on Saturday 6th July 2019 on Pugneys Country Park Lake in Wakefield.

What does the event involve?

The Dragon Boat Challenge will consist of each team racing 3 times during the day. The final will be between the 6 teams with the best aggregate times, racing head to head to see who is crowned the winner and take the Stuart Wardell Memorial Trophy to keep for one year. There will also be a ladies final between the 4 fastest teams consisting of at least 50% ladies.

Teams are encouraged to dress as outlandishly as possible with a Best Dressed Trophy awarded on the day.

What does it mean to Pride?

Wakefield LGBT Pride costs a lot to keep it FREE and therefore taking part in events like The Dragon Boat Challenge and getting sponsorship for doing so means that we can get nearer to achieving our target for Wakefield LGBT Pride 2019.

Fancy a go?
